The Edentulous Perforated Dental Impression Tray is designed to capture a negative mold of the alveolar ridge and the soft tissues within the mouth, allowing for a positive reproduction (cast or model) to be created. The impression material, initially in a liquid or semi-solid form when mixed and placed in the mouth, sets into an elastic solid after a few minutes, depending on the specific material used. This process leaves an imprint of the individual’s alveolar ridge and adjacent structures of the oral cavity.

There are two primary categories of Impression Trays:

Dentulous: These trays are utilized to capture impressions from individuals with natural teeth or a dentulous mouth.
Edentulous: These trays are meant for taking impressions in an edentulous mouth or in patients who are toothless.
Furthermore, they are further categorized into two types based on the presence of perforations:

Perforated: These trays have small holes or perforations in them.
Non-Perforated: These trays lack perforations and are intended to carry impression materials that are not rigid, such as alginate.
