Woodpecker I Sensor H1

The Woodpecker i‑Sensor H1 is a high‐performance digital intraoral radiovisiograph (sensor) designed for dental imaging. It replaces traditional intraoral film and captures X‑ray images digitally, enabling faster diagnostics and better patient comfort.

• High Image Resolution & Quality

  • The sensor uses APS CMOS (Active Pixel Sensor) technology for capturing images.

  • Theoretical resolution is ≈ 25 line pairs per mm, allowing fine detail in radiographs (tiny anatomical structures, root apices, etc.). The pixel matrix is 1000 × 1500 for the H1 model.

• Active Area and Physical Size

  • Effective (active) imaging area: ≈ 20 × 30 mm for H1. 

  • Mechanical (outer) dimensions: approx 38.5 × 25 × 4.4‑4.5 mm.

• Thin, Ergonomic Design for Patient Comfort

  • Very slim sensor (~4.4‑4.5 mm thick) to make placement in the mouth easier and less uncomfortable, especially in bitewing or posterior regions. 

  • Curved/rounded edges to reduce discomfort and injury risk when positioning.

• Durability & Hygiene / Protection

  • Built to withstand frequent flexing: over 80,000 bending tests have been passed.

  • Protection rating: IP68, which means it is highly resistant to dust and water, allowing immersion in disinfectants.

  • Durable housing: often described as having CNC shell and ultrasonic welding/fusion for robustness.

• Ease of Use / Software / Workflow

  • Fast image acquisition: processing time often quoted around 3 seconds. Compatible with standard dental imaging software via TWAIN drivers. 

  • Software often supplied with the sensor includes image enhancement/processing functions (contrast, noise reduction, etc.) and supports multiple users under single license. 

• Electrical / Interface / Power

  • Powered via 5V USB interface.

  • Cable length: between ~2.8 to 3 meters, flexible cable well suited for positioning.

• Usage & Applications

  • Used for intraoral imaging: bitewing, periapical radiographs in dental clinics.

  • Helps in diagnosis, treatment planning, endodontics, etc., because of its clarity and detail.

  • Lower radiation dose compared to traditional film radiographs owing to digital capture efficiency. (Some sources say ~30× less, though that can depend on exposure settings)
